PROJECTS
Thinktank | Research
Good trade promotion in Hong Kong, Japan, Greater China, and Asia, which is projected to be the fastest growing region in the world in the next few decades, is essential for peace and prosperity in the region. We promote research to understand the definition of goodness and its promotion in a theoretical and systematic way.
The history of world trade has proven that imbalanced trade is a distant cause of conflict between nations and eventually war. On the macro level, we need to strive to achieve trade equilibrium, and on the micro level, we need to make international business more mutually beneficial for businesses and, ultimately, for the benefit and well-being of local communities in both regions.
The Hong Kong Institute of Commerce (HKICI) will conduct a lot of research to better understand the companies of the other countries, and as a think-tank, disseminate our findings not only to the relevant academic societies but also to the business community, with the aim of helping companies in Hong Kong, Japan and Greater China to achieve smooth international trade and investment business.
Business Education
International Trade Studies
International trade education is very important as a prerequisite for dealing with foreign countries. There are no risks and few challenges in conducting domestic transactions or engaging foreign business but through trading companies. However, it is not possible to enjoy the real thrill of international trade that way. The greatest benefit of international trade is the “learning effect”. In its history, Japan has taken in a lot of learning from other countries and brought about unprecedented innovations. Direct entry international trade is, despite of its risk, an opportunity for in-house innovations. Only what is needed is to know what are the risks in advance and learn the method and tactics to handle those risk properly to your advantage. This Center provides an introductory study with overview of international trade to those interested in doing business with overseas nations
Hong Kong | Greater China Business Studies
When engaging in an international trade & investment with a Hong Kong or a Greater China company, it is important for you to have a comprehensive understanding of their management organization behaviors regardless of their being your client, supplier or partner. Here, this Center will deepen your understanding of the foreign companies you are dealing, by showing you the Compass to enter Greater China. The curriculum will be based on an academic achievement of Professor Tony Fang who developed a Paradigm of instantly understanding ethnic Chinese organizational behaviors while he stayed at MIT in USA.
Japanese Business
Japan is very close to Hong Kong and both regions share a lot of common traits in modern business practices. Yet, Japanese do have very different corporate behaviors from that of ethnic Chinese. What are the similarities and differences. Those engaging business with a Japanese partner must understand the inner motivations and controlling values of Japanese. Those are often un-seeable and one needs much to learn as alien and stranger. Knowing little of their hidden meaning of behaviors, you would misjudge the situation and lead your business downturn. Also, superior features of Japanese business behaviors are worth learning and apply to your own business improvement and betterment. Knowing the characteristics and advantages of Japanese companies and its transfer to your management could lead to the improvement of people’s life and will contribute to Hong Kong community at large.
